On 22nd November, from 2pm until midnight, a dedicated team of Salsa dancers from the University of Oxford aims to dance a Salsa marathon, non-stop for 10 hours, to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The event will take place at St Columba’s Church (Alfred St) in Oxford.
Please challenge us to dance the full 10 hours by donating anything from £1/hour to whatever you can afford. We have been training for weeks to dance as a team without stopping, and swapping partners without missing a beat using a form of salsa called ‘rueda’ (wheel). Come watch, encourage us, and above all, support us with your donation.
Every donation is extremely appreciated, no matter how small. Please donate at www.justgiving.com/rueda, or text ‘OUDC88 £3’, or any other amount to 70070. All donations will be spent on CRUK research in the Oxford area. CRUK can make a real difference to many people.
Our three popular DJs (award-winning Julian Summers, Mambo City’s Wyn Morris, and Oxford’s Bachata King Sergio Fernandez) will be playing the best salsa tracks in Latin music. Come join in the fun for social dancing alongside the challenge. After 7pm there is an admission fee of £10 (or proof of donation). Before then, it’s free. For those who don’t dance but would like to try, there will be dancers available to give you taster lessons. There will also be a cake sale.
We hope to see you on 22nd November; especially in our final hours we will need all the encouragement, love, and adrenalin we can get to keep us on our toes and reach our goal.
Thanks for your support!
Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to volunteer.
